By age fifteen, Kimberly continued her pianist pursuits at the University of Michigan, studying under Jill Christiansen – winner of the Annual University of Michigan Concerto Competition. Kimberly often accompanies her vocal students for music competitions, college auditions and performances. She is presently the accompanist and vocal coach for the Livonia Civic Chorus.
Recommendations
I began studying with Kim at just 10 years old. Now, 11 years later, this still was the best decision I ever made! Kim dedicated herself to vocal development in all stages. Her understanding and ability to adapt to my learning style and ever-changing orthodontics allowed me to reach my full potential. I am currently a student on a full-ride scholarship at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, and I owe it all to Kim. She was essential to my preparations for college auditions and remains a trusted ear to this day. Kim saw my potential before I even believed in myself. Kim’s expertise in both opera and musical theatre allowed for the development of the well-rounded, healthy singer. I would recommend Kim as an instructor to any developing singer looking to sing recreationally or as a career.

She is devoted to working with her students to discover and explore their full range of voice, while refining skills and vocal capabilities the right way. She takes care in offering guidance, encouraging words, repertoire recommendations and so much more. If you’re serious about learning how to sing, or want to enhance your technique, look no further. Kim will help you do that and so much more.

As a soloist, Kimberly has sung a wide range of musical styles including that of serious classical repertoire to that of contemporary Christian selections. In each case, she has met with considerable success and the approval of the most musically discerning. Kimberly has enjoyed leading roles in seasonal dramatic presentations both operatically and sacred works of the church throughout the Metro-Detroit area and parts of Canada……..Perhaps Kimberly’s greatest qualifications are her own performances. Now working as an educator, Kimberly has enjoyed great success and many of her students have shown great improvement in such venues as festival competitions, solo performances, and leading roles in dramatic musical plays. Many of her students have already achieved successful musical careers in Opera and Musical Theatre.

It is with great pleasure that I heartily recommend Kimberly Swan as a superb professional singer and as a marvelous musician. I have known Ms. Swan since we first performed together at a benefit concert for the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra in 1994. I enjoyed the experience so much, we asked Kimberly to be the resident soprano in our opera troupe, Musica Da Camera, which performs throughout the Metropolitan Detroit Area.

As a father, brother, and son of her vocal students and as a city leader who appreciates her work with the Livonia Civic Chorus, I am thankful for Kimberly Swan. Her dedication, professionalism, and love inspires all who work with her to pursue a higher standard of excellence, and our community is better for it.
